Bath and North East Somerset Council

Event creation, management and programme development

In March 2012 Mike oversaw the creation and delivery of the inaugural Bath Digital Festival in his role as Creative Director.

Bath has an active and growing digital sector, having attracted a large number of cutting-edge enterprises into choosing the city as their home. Along with the leading research being carried out locally at the University of Bath and Bath Spa University, the city is fast becoming a hub for digital technologies in the South West.

As such, the Festival included a variety of events aimed at opening the digital scene to the general public, from competitions for local school children to city-wide events where members of the public could get a taste for all things digital. There were hands-on coding sessions, technology workshops, digital performances, demonstrations and business pitches – to name but a few.

During the 10 days that the festival ran we saw over 2,500 people attending. The event ran again in 2013.

  • Half it in size. Then half it again.

I’m sitting looking at my inbox. It’s a bit full – I’ve been away for a week. I’ve done a bunch of culling but in there are three newsletters catching my eye, all from museums or museum related people. Out of interest, I just pasted each one into http://wordcounttools.com. They average 1,400 words each. Here’s my mental […]

Yesterday, we revamped and updated our resources section – these are free worksheets, guides and templates which are supposed to help organisations get a better handle on digital engagement.
