One of our favourite projects!

This incredible community photography archive is such a lovely example of how a local source of records can be so engaging and empowering to a community. The project is based on an archive of images from the 1950s and 60s, and is an amazing snapshot of all aspects of daily life from the time.

As a consequence of this, the memory book shows a huge response – hundreds of local residents have got in touch with the project to suggest changes, ask about whether others remember their own specific memories and much more.

We are a small team based in the community arts and heritage sector. We faced the daunting task of preserving and digitising a large glass plate photography collection of 12,000 images from the 1950s and 60s. All the images were to be uploaded to a website on a tight schedule, using appropriate collections management software. Initially, this seemed completely overwhelming for us. However, from our initial meeting with Mike at Thirty 8 Digital, we immediately knew that his knowledge and expertise in this particular sector was the correct choice for our project. From our initial brief, he efficiently guided us through each stage of website construction and the site was quickly uploaded on time and budget. The site is accessible and easily navigable. Also, the design work and branding is innovative and completely in keeping with the subject matter. It is very popular and has enabled our project to be widely showcased, locally, nationally and internationally. It has significantly increased our visitor numbers and our wide ranging target audiences. Mike has consistently been available to resolve any requests we have had in recent years. We would definitely work with Thirty 8 Digital again on any future heritage based projects.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Mike and Rachel who have been the power behind the scene of our website and social media presence at the Bath Half for three years now. • Angela Hind, Director, Medical Research Foundation, Medical Research Foundation

Thirty8 Digital have provided us with a great looking new website. Mike and his team were a pleasure to work with, accommodating our uncontrollably changing deadlines and working patiently to help us – 100% website novices – to understand the technical aspects of the project that we had to be exposed to (and Mike was very good at keeping this to a minimum)....
