We work with lots of great people, and like to deliver fantastic work. Here are some of the things our clients say about us…

As a small charity with limited resources (both time and money), choosing a website designer for a complete overhaul and modernisation of our website was a daunting task – we didn’t have much breathing room. This was also the first time I’d lead on a project with this much impact and I was pretty nervous but after our first online meeting, I knew both I and the project would be in safe hands with Thirty8 thanks to Mike’s honesty and his friendly approach.

The new website has received really positive feedback from our wide range of users, including from many who are not particularly adept with digital and having an accessible website makes all the difference.

I could not recommend Thirty8 highly enough and I look forward to an ongoing working relationship.

Rosa Martyn – Communications Coordinator

Project: acta website

When we secured the funding for Scaling Up Change Minds from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, one of our first priorities was to appoint a web developer.   The Change Minds website needed to serve multiple purposes:  as an advocacy too for Change Minds, as a source of information for potential partners and participants, and as a tool for delivery of individual Change Minds 12-week mental wellbeing programmes.  The site also needed to be easy to manage and update once the Scaling Up Project finished and Change Minds projects started rolling out across the country.  We also wanted it to look good!

Working with Mike and the team at Thirty8 has helped us achieve all of this.  Their project management, communication and design skills have been invaluable.  And, as a bonus, they have been great to work with.

Gary Tuson, County Archivist, Norfolk Record Office

Project: Change Minds website

We had lots of ideas about what we wanted to do, but not about the specific steps required to make anything a reality – we use digital in our daily lives and learn most things on the job in the best way we can. Working with Mike at Thirty8Digital helped us crystallise what we wanted to achieve, why and how we would do it. As a small team with limited resources, we needed a consultant who could work with us, as well as make us work, to help us reach our goals. It has been quite a journey but we’re proud of what we have learnt and managed to achieve, thanks to the support from Mike.

Project: Hackney Museum Digital Engagement Strategy

Thirty8 Digital created our Exploring Eliot website, a project which involved three partners and multiple strands of information that needed to be organised and presented clearly as well as attractively. The team at Thirty8 Digital worked with us to bring together these needs and created an easy to navigate and smart website. And as someone new to producing online content, I’ve been able to update and create content thanks to the website design and training provided.

Ali Wells, Curator, Herbert Art Gallery & Museum

Project: Exploring Eliot website

Thirty8 Digital stood out from the crowd from our first meeting and have not disappointed since. What makes them different is the way they combine insight, honesty and flexibility.

You only get that from companies that really care about the work that they do and their clients. We redesigned our main website from top to bottom in 2020 with Mike and Rachel.

All of the best projects are fun, creative, impactful, on time and on budget! We got all of these things and we look forward to a long working relationship that will bring lasting benefits to our diverse users and stakeholders.

Dr Toby Simpson, Director

Project: WHL digital strategy and website

We have been working with Thirty 8 Digital since 2019 and they have been invaluable in the growth of the digital presence of our organisation.

Mike and the team created our new website for us and continue to help us grow our offer. As a membership organisation and a charity our digital development project was extremely complex but Thirty 8 were great at bringing the many software and systems we have together including helping us understand the technology and acting as go between with our IT consultants for us. This made the process stress free for us as Mike understood our organisations needs and was able to ‘translate’ the tech jargon for us!

We are a small organisation with limited staff resources but big ideas and Mike has been able to work with us to develop additional features since we launched our new website including a new exhibition site. Their knowledge of the museum and culture sector makes a huge difference when looking at future planning and projects as they have insights and contacts that have been vital for us in helping to deliver our charitable objective through digital projects.

I can’t recommend the team enough, they have gone above and beyond to help us and have been a life saver more than once when we needed to turn around a project with a tight deadline.

Danielle Wilson Higgins, Communications and Events Manager, The Society of Antiquaries of London

Project: Society of Antiquaries of London

We have been working the Thirty8 Digital since 2018 when they were the standout choice to create our new website. Mike and his team really took the time to get to know our Kids in Museums during the design and development period and their approach was friendly and accessible throughout. The project was completed on time and within our limited budget and we were delighted with the end result. Our new website has had a huge impact on our online profile and enabled us to reach new audiences. Their down-to-earth approach to ongoing support and understanding of the museum sector has been really valuable to us as we have continued to develop our site. I would highly recommend them for any heritage website project.

As a small organisation with limited in-house expertise, Thirty8 has been a lifeline for us. This is a friendly, down-to-earth agency that is deeply committed to helping arts & heritage organisations with their digital. Mike took the time to get to know our organisation, and has consistently gone beyond the call of duty to support and advise us. Thanks to Thirty8, the apparent complexities of our digital ambitions have become far less daunting, and we are making great leaps in pursuing our digital goals.

We worked with Thirty8 Digital to design, host and support an artist’s project commemorating the centenary of the 1918 ‘Spanish’ Flu pandemic. From the very beginning, Mike and the team intuitively understood what we were trying to do, and came up with the goods in the form of both technical and design solutions necessary to help us deliver a complex and multifaceted site. When the project attracted large amounts of new traffic in the wake of the Covid pandemic, Thirty8’s robust hosting solution kept the site going, and since then efficient monitoring, maintenance and upgrading have kept the project live as a vital reminder of a past pandemic.

I’m so pleased we made the decision to appoint Thirty8 Digital to run our website development project; they had brilliant creative ideas, were great communicators and really importantly they understand the challenges of developing a museum website (especially doing so on a tight budget!) The end result is fantastic, and the ongoing support they’ve given us since the launch has also been brilliant.

Head of Marketing, Communications and PR

Working with Thirty8 took our online presence forward years! They took the pain and anxiety out of redeveloping our website and cut the jargon to make it easy for us to sustain the site ongoing. We went from having a clunky, outdated website to totally reimagining our online offer, making a huge difference to our organisation and our users. Since then they have been an invaluable support, always friendly, happy to help and able to find the exact approach we need to realise our ideas. We work with limited resources and tight timescales and Thirty8 Digital have been the perfect digital partners to make what we do possible.
Holly Bee, Education and Communications Manager, GEM

Project: GEM website

Thirty8 Digital were fantastic to work with – they were friendly and very helpful throughout the process of building our heritage website. We had particular ideas about what we wanted from the website and they were able to make them happen. It was important for us to work with a company who understands archive collections and we would recommend them for any similar projects. A key requirement of our website was to make it as accessible as possible and Thirty8 Digital were very responsive around developing accessible content.

Annie Ward, Heritage Project Manager, Leonard Cheshire Disability

I have worked with Thity8 Digital in the past and it was an easy decision to work with them again on a new project. This time it was to evaluate the Britten-Pears Foundation’s digital offer and work on a two-phased website project.

I knew I was in safe hands to deliver a new website on a limited budget and on an even tighter deadline. They supported me throughout the process and project managed to perfection. Phase one of the website is complete and I am look forward to working with them again on phase two later this year.

Thirty8 Digital helped enormously with MoDA’s online presence. They made some great suggestions that have made a big difference in the short term, and helped us achieve greater clarity on new developments in the longer term. Brilliant!

Project: Museum of Domestic Architecture

We are a small team based in the community arts and heritage sector. We faced the daunting task of preserving and digitising a large glass plate photography collection of 12,000 images from the 1950s and 60s. All the images were to be uploaded to a website on a tight schedule, using appropriate collections management software. Initially, this seemed completely overwhelming for us. However, from our initial meeting with Mike at Thirty 8 Digital, we immediately knew that his knowledge and expertise in this particular sector was the correct choice for our project. From our initial brief, he efficiently guided us through each stage of website construction and the site was quickly uploaded on time and budget. The site is accessible and easily navigable. Also, the design work and branding is innovative and completely in keeping with the subject matter. It is very popular and has enabled our project to be widely showcased, locally, nationally and internationally. It has significantly increased our visitor numbers and our wide ranging target audiences. Mike has consistently been available to resolve any requests we have had in recent years. We would definitely work with Thirty 8 Digital again on any future heritage based projects.

Martin Bush, Retracing Salford

Project: Salford & Cheetham Hill in Focus website

We are generating a huge amount of rich multimedia and narrative which we wanted to publish online to complement our exhibitions programme. User research has shown that our audiences engage better with longer form content rather than just a database front-end.

Thirty8 Digital developed a stunning, flexible theme which allows us to rapidly develop narrative content in a way which is complementary to the exhibition development process.

Mark Pajak, Head of Digital, Bristol Museums

Project: Bristol Museums storytelling

We chose Thirty8 Digital to create our new website as they have a great track record within the heritage sector. They understood our time pressures and our need to reflect a range of sites, venues and services. They responded to our brief with a well-received design, and gave realistic and practical recommendations to delivering the website in our timeframe. I felt the team put in a lot of effort and dealt well with various challenges along the way.

The website has really lifted our online offer and we have received lots of positive comments about the site. It’s also really easy and quick to update. We are pleased to be working again with Thirty8 Digital as we develop our site towards the next phase of our Plymouth History Centre project. The knowledge that Mike and the team have in all manner of systems is really valuable and this seems to be continually growing!

Fiona Booth, Digital Engagement Officer, Plymouth City Council

Project: Plymouth Arts & Heritage website

We knew we made the right decision to work with Thirty8 Digital from the get go. Their knowledge of the heritage, digital and marketing world is second-to-none and their friendliness and enthusiasm for our complex project made the experience all the more enjoyable. They took the time to understand the many changes to our organisation (name change, new branding and new offer) and project managed the job to perfection. And it’s not the end, they are invested in our future and we have plans in place to make our new website bigger and better than it already is. We have had such positive feedback from our peers that I have enjoyed recommending Thirty8 Digital to them all!

Ella Roberts, Handel & Hendrix in London Communications Officer

Project: Handel House Museum website

We chose Thirty8 Digital to work on our Designated World Cultures website because of their experience in working with collections data and their solid reputation in the museum sector.

Their work with our Collections Database website’s API to pull object data and images into the new website and making it a seamless part of the overall product delivered exactly what we hoped for. We also used the new website as an opportunity to create an online look and feel around the RAMM branding. Thirty8 Digital were positive and responsive in testing this and in helping extend a print brand into a web product.

The new website needed to be responsive to reflect the rise in visitors accessing the website via mobile. Thirty8 Digital responded to this, and contributed to clarifying the navigation and site content for visitors. Importantly Thirty 8 digital delivered on time, on budget and facilitated the development through collaborative software.

Rick Lawrence, Digital Media Officer, Royal Albert Memorial Museum

Project: Royal Albert Memorial Museum, World Cultures

Thirty8 Digital certainly made, what seemed a challenging project, run smoothly. By gauging the full staff’s opinion on the old website and where we should be heading with a new one, Thirty8 Digital were able to combine everyone’s thoughts and help us create a clean, easy to navigate, informative website with plenty of scope for further development.

With regular scheduled meetings, translations of anything & everything technological, contacts with designers and fellow consultants, and bringing everything together meant that, alongside our hardworking website team, we were able not only to stick to schedule but get a little ahead!

After the website’s launch, the continued support we have received from Thirty8 Digital has been wonderful. While we may not now be in constant communication with Mike and Rachel, as we take on the maintenance of the site ourselves, the fact they are only a phone call or email away is of great reassurance; especially when a need arises and it is sorted in no time at all.

Thirty8 Digital are rather like a good pair of thigh-high boots. Bold, comfortable and they help you stand out from the crowd, but the engineering is top notch. A perfect combination of solid engineering and loveliness.

Thirty8 Digital have provided us with a great looking new website. Mike and his team were a pleasure to work with, accommodating our uncontrollably changing deadlines and working patiently to help us – 100% website novices – to understand the technical aspects of the project that we had to be exposed to (and Mike was very good at keeping this to a minimum). I felt in safe hands throughout and am really happy with the end product. It was a pleasure to work with Thirty8.

Angela Hind, Director, Medical Research Foundation

Project: Medical Research Foundation website

I can wholeheartedly recommend Mike and Rachel who have been the power behind the scene of our website and social media presence at the Bath Half for three years now.

As a small web-based business delivering personal service to tens of thousands of customers, the tone and content of our digital communications is our lifeblood.  Thirty8 Digital met and exceeded our expectations. Rachel sensitively developed and applied our brief, and delivered required content in an assured tone, within timelines.  It took a lot of pressure off us during our busiest trading period.  We’d be happy to recommend her to other clients seeking similar services

Besides being 120% technically reliable and willing to work whenever, they are well ahead of the game in terms of IT development and  easy routes to achieve goals, instead of expensive custom builds. It doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated to work.

Plus they are 100% easy going and approachable, and so very patient holding our non-techie hands through the scary digital world – to achieve quite startling results.

Andrew Taylor, Race Director

Project: Bath Half Marathon: website development and digital communication

When we wanted to make updates to our website we needed a web developer that would be able to take a complex, in-depth issue and present it in a fun, professional, coherent, comprehensive and  navigable way, and Thirty8 did not disappoint! It was an absolute pleasure dealing with the Thirty8 team. They were immediately responsive to any queries and their creativity and patience made working with them a real delight. If you are looking to create nice web content around your organisation and initiative then Thirty8 are a great partner. I would highly recommend them.

Interesting, engaging, great knowledge, simply explained, overally just great! I would definitely work with Mike if I have an opportunity in my job and I would definitely recommend him as he is knowledgeable and has an ability to create trust between him and the audience.

Thirty8 Digital developed a Google Analytics workshop for a team of our staff with a wide range of digital competencies. Mike tailored it perfectly to the needs of the group and was a thoroughly engaging speaker/facilitator. What was made this session particularly useful was Mike’s comprehensive knowledge and experience of how to develop digital engagement in the cultural heritage sector. Highly recommended

“Thirty8 Digital came highly recommended to us and we are delighted with the results. They have delivered a fantastic website at a very reasonable cost.  Thirty8 Digital took the time to understand what we were trying to achieve and explained the technical aspects clearly and succinctly. Mike’s wide-ranging advice, from services our website should offer, to engaging with social media and monitoring traffic was invaluable.  Our website not only looks great, but it is easy for us to use, which is a real plus!!  Thanks Rachel and Mike!”

Blue Sail worked with Rachel and Mike on a project helping the South West’s top museums grow cultural tourism. The sound, practical advice and imaginative ideas they offered to the museums on digital marketing were perfectly pitched. Rachel and Mike were easy to work with – unfailingly positive and constructive – and we would love to collaborate more in future.

Lorna Easton, Director of Blue Sail

Project: MLA ‘Culture on Tour’ project

We wanted a new website developed for our unit in preparation for the 100 year anniversary of the MRC. Thirty8 Digital came recommended to us and we are more than happy with the finished result. During the development stage we were kept involved during each step of the process and they were very receptive to last minute changes that came up while the site was being created. After the launch of the site they have been quick to assist with any issues that have cropped up and Mike came up to see us to deliver some onsite training that meant we were able to start updating and making changes to the site ourselves. I would have no hesitation in recommending Thirty8 digital to future potential clients.

Thirty8 Digital were fantastic. They guided us through the process without making us feel stupid, kept in close touch, listened to what we wanted, coped with us changing our mind about things and still delivered on time. The site and animation produced have been incredibly well received by the public and by government. We would recommend Thirty8 Digital unreservedly.

Rich Mitchell, Professor of Health and Environment

Project: Measuring Big Society

The team at KCA London loved working with Mike and Rachel of Thirty8 Digital. Their technical expertise, creativity and iterative approach to website development meant that, together, we have produced a website we are really proud of. Mike and Rachel really took the time to understand who we were as a company and what we wanted our website to achieve. The training was fantastic, meaning we have complete autonomy over our website content and a thorough understanding of how social media can improve web traffic. Working with Mike & Rachel has inspired us to communicate our own stories as well as we communicate others.
