We’ve worked with the amazing Freud Museum for a number of years – firstly on their digital strategy and then helping them when they had issues with an old website.

Our aim throughout both projects was to help give the museum a better sense of direction in all things digital. The Museum has an amazingly rich web presence – filled with incredible stories and images all about Freud and his family. We found tens of thousands of pages on their original site: archives, events, images and visitor information.

As is often the case, the amount of content that had built up over the years had become slightly overwhelming – and the Museum wanted to find ways to focus their work.

We worked with the Museum to develop their draft engagement strategy – they used our digital strategy framework to help shape this. Then for the next piece of work we carried out a brief digital audit to help them pinpoint the exact areas they could focus on with limited resources and time. This covered a range of areas from usability to SEO.

The new site is deep and lush, richly branded with the beautiful photographs that the team provided to us – and features all sorts of technical stuff: AdLib integration, donation functionality, synced calendars, clever site search, rich and flexible content modules. But what really makes it shine is the superb content – take a look at the videos, imagery and text in the Discover Psychoanalysis section for example. The team are just brilliant at taking potentially confusing topics and making them approachable and understandable – our very own Rachel Ellis helped edit for the web, too, honing down larger blocks of text and making it all modular and skimmable.

As a small organisation with limited in-house expertise, Thirty8 has been a lifeline for us. This is a friendly, down-to-earth agency that is deeply committed to helping arts & heritage organisations with their digital. Mike took the time to get to know our organisation, and has consistently gone beyond the call of duty to support and advise us. Thanks to Thirty8, the apparent complexities of our digital ambitions have become far less daunting, and we are making great leaps in pursuing our digital goals.
